Get Ready Visit PublicAlerts.org to learn and prepare yourself for local emergencies.
Get Involved Support your neighborhood by volunteering to be a Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET) member. During a citywide or regional emergency such as a severe winter storm, flood, or major earthquake, volunteer neighborhood rescuers will likely be first on-the-scene when firefighters and police are slowed by impassable streets or overwhelmed by calls for help.

Overview

In Dec 2015, Boise, Eliot, and Humboldt neighbors formed a Neighborhood Emergency Preparedness group to help residents prepare for earthquakes and other emergencies. All are welcome to join this group. Some of the group members are trained by the Portland Bureau of Emergency Management (PBEM) as Neighborhood Emergency Team (NET) responders. Anyone can take this training, and you can sign up for the free training here.

We Need Your Help

There are over 12,000 people (as of 2010) in our three neighborhoods. That’s a lot of people – far too many for our team (currently ~15) to help if a disaster strikes. We need everyone to participate in making our community more resilient. Our goal is to have neighbors organize and prepare block-by-block, and we’re here to help you do that. Please contact us with questions and feel free to attend our meetings any time. You don’t need to be a trained NET member to get involved.

Meeting Schedule

We meet quarterly at the New Seasons on Williams, from 7:00 to 8:30 pm on the first Tuesday of the month.
