But in the short time since then, he has already distinguished himself among his fellow volunteers. He is a familiar face at nearly every training and deployment event we’ve had since he became a member. He has participated in BEECN drills, the Operation Stumptown search and rescue exercise, and was one of five volunteers on the Portland CERT Olympics team. Pete is an all-around NET, with certifications in amateur radio, ATC-20, and First Aid. He also deployed to help at Red Cross warming centers during the storm late last year, despite recovering from a set of broken ribs. Finally, Pete is a rock-solid part of the St. Johns training team, helping put on NET training events in North Portland.
