Carry a clipboard with paper.
Keep communication short.
Use plain language except for well excepted net terms like triage, immediate, delayed, etc.
Spell words when needed to ensure accuracy.
Write down what you hear. Using notepaper is fine.
Read back what you have heard to verify accuracy.
Avoid referring to people by name or otherwise conveying personal information. Also see Appropriate Tactical Radio Traffic Content.
Except when participating in an actual deployment say "This is an exercise." frequently.
When you receive important information be sure it is routed to the appropriate person.
